..... Morning set with P.B. and Lisch .....
P.B. invited me to ride with him this morning. Although I vowed not to ride again until I lose this 36X12.50 tire I have strapped around my waist, I went anyway. The water was typical 6:00 morning glass, but the wake that The Moomba was producing was quite threatening. PB got a deal on some boat accessories off Craigslist, money well spent sir. The wake was so meaty that it launched my big ass up and over with no problems. David just has to mash on the gas and hang on, he's landing way out in the smooth water these days. He's the perfect size cat for the sport, the laws of physics and age are catching up to myself and PB fater than we're willing to admit or realize. Thumbs up for the new ballast and early morning set, and may the calm waters grace everyone more often.....

..... Blanco County Fair and Rodeo .....
We went to the Blanco County Fair and Rodeo this weekend. Hannah and Caden had a good time at the parade and carnival. We saw some of Nichole's classmates and their growing families. Gram and Paw Paw's house is coming along nicely, looks like they may be in before Thanksgiving, definitely by Christmas. Karen and David are both very excited about their home. The view off the back porch is incredible. One thing is for certain, they'll never have to worry about solicitors.

..... Seeing old friends .....
We went to East Texas to spend a week with my family. While we were there, we stopped in to visit with an old friend of mine, Shane Stevenson and his family. We had a great time swapping storries, reliving old times and plating music together. Shane, his wife Sonia and their daughter Skylar made us feel right at home, we spent most of our time in their music room clinging to our youth and many encore's of never-ending E Blues Scale. Good times, we hope to do it again some time. It had been 20 years since we last played together, made me feel like we were in High School all over again....

..... Hannah's new bike .....
Hannah sold two bikes so she could buy this hot pink bike. We've gone riding almost every night since she's been here. Hannah says it is a fun thing to do as a family and good exercise too!

..... Independence Day Fun, Lake Austin Style .....
We were on the water @ 6:00 on Saturday morning. It's a good thing too, it only took an hour to get the boat back on the trailer, boat ramp madness. Zappa and Chelsea spent the morning riding behind the X-7 with us. Hannah and Chelsea rode the most, Zappa is still recovering from a knee injury and unless PB is driving the boat I get nervous while riding. Anywho, we had an awesome morning, then the tubers and surfers woke up and wreaked havoc on the glassy waters. After we get some rain and Lake Travis fills up, all the bigger boats will go back where they belong. Until then, it looks like many early morning and late evening sets to get your fix....

..... Lake Austin with The Browns' .....
Paul Brown needed to do some maintenance on The Moomba. So he decided for everyone to hang out before he drug it out of the water and back to S.Austin for some TLC. The water was crap, so we pulled into a cove and played with Luke in the water. You know, a little parental psychology. Get him use to the cool waters of Lake Austin before he takes his maiden voyage on the ol' surfboard with his pops.... I think he's ready, he has that look in his eyes, you know the look I'm talking about. We had a good time floatin' in the water, Matt even graced us with his presence as he floated on his noodle drinkin' a cold one.

..... Fathers Day in East Texas .....
We moved my dad back to East Texas this weekend. After all the work was done on Sunday we celebrated Fathers Day. Hannah enjoyed visiting with Kim and Robert, they almost treat her like their adopted child, which she just loves. My dad is glad to be back home in The Piney Woods and has vowed to never leave again. He says that if he starts missing the big city, he'll pack a weekend bag and visit, but that's it. I can't say as I blame him, it's nice and quiet over there, but the slow pace leaves little to be desired. Maybe when we're his age it could be an option, but not any time soon, we like the hustle and bustle of the city for now.

..... Marek Family Reunion .....
We went to Kelly and Sue's house in Taylor for the annual Marek Family Reunion. Man, it was hot. No worries, there was plenty cold one's there to drink. We got to see people that we haven't seen in, well, a year.... I'm kidding, it's been two years, we didn't get to go last year. So we made up for it this year. Hannah and Caden swam in the pool so long that their skin looked like raisins. Yummy.....We're already looking forward to next years reunion, I think the grown-ups decided it should be on a lake. Everyone's bringing their boats, sunscreen and health insurance cards....

..... Jones Place .....
We went to East Texas this weekend to see my family and to bring back a trailer for my dad. My grandparents had a new archway and electric gate built at the entrance of their place that reads "Jones". My grandfather asked Nichole what she thought of his new archway ? She told him that it's not tattoo'd across his shoulders, but that it would work. He got a big kick out of that, he hates tattoo's, but we think that he likes my family name across my shoulders. We had a great time hanging out with my grandparents, Robert, Kim and their dog Precious. It seemed like there was more work than visiting going on, it was worth it though. When dad moves back home there will be plenty of time for riding the 4-wheeler trails, hunting and fishing.

..... Hannah's 9th. Birthday
We celebrated Hannah's last single digit birthday this weekend. Our closest friends and family came over to join in. She enjoyed seeing everyone and playing with Caden, Luke Brown and Stephanie, our neighbor. Have you ever seen so much pink in one place? If it wasn't pink it was some other bright color. Nichole says it's a reflection of her personality. Hmmm, that's some personality. David and Karen Freer stayed the night. David and I whooped the ladies playing 42 so bad that they didn't want to play Wahoo. So we, no, I watched qualifying for the Thunder Valley Nationals and fell asleep on the couch. What a weekend.

..... Finally a little sunshine .....
The sun finally decided to burn off some clouds, so PB, LB and myself thought we should get it while the getting was good. Trouble is, someone forgot to tell the wind to quit blowing. That's what Luke was saying in this shot, he said that we should have took a sailboat out instead of The Moomba. The water was choppy, but we made due. Luke's already working on his form and technique, his daddy will have him doing backrolls and tantrums before you know it. Enjoy the pics.

..... Doesn't get any better than this .....
Does it really get any better than this ? Other than being out in an X-Star, probably not. Paul Brown, Luke Brown, Nichole and myself treated ourselves to an evening of sun and Lake Austin fun today. Any day now and Luke is gonna be riding, I think he's going to skip walking altogether and go straight to riding. You should see the look in his eye when his daddy slides off the platform, he's thinking any day now I'll be able to enjoy the lake just like that. I think that's why he digs it so much, he's already got the Jimmy Buffett attitude, it doesn't matter to him either way. He got his first pair of boardshorts for his birthday, maybe for his second birthday he'll get his first board/bindings. We had a blast look at all the pictures and tell us what you think.

..... Lake Austin in the MasterCraft .....
Paul Brown and I made our way to the 360 bridge this evening for a little R&R, ruckus and rowdiness. Okay I was ruckus and he was rowdy. Anyway, after waiting for some good butter he tried out his new Phillip Soven 3rd edition. As always, he adapted his riding to the new board and voilah backrolls galore, butter slides, transfers, ACL tearing double ups, and almost a tantrum. He said he should quit while he was ahead. In the process of my toe-side faceplant on the wakeskate we met this couple from Kansas. He asked if he could take a set for some gas money, and the madness began. This cat could throw it down, it was truly inspirational, even for PB. Since it was just Paul and I there are only pictures of this guy from Kansas. What, you think you could drive the boat and take pictures at the same time ? Check it.

..... Luke Browns' 1st. Birthday Party .....
Can you believe that Luke Brown is already a year old ? I can't either, his mother and father may disagree, but it's true. I tell you what, that boy is gonna have to grow up and be a Rockstar at the rate he's going. There were like 50 people there to celebrate with him, kin folks, friends, friends of friends, you name it they were there. He made out like a Bandit with all the gifts, it was like Christmas in April. Max and Christian got him this saddle broncin' pony, he'll ride that sucker for days, what ye bet ? Good times at The Brown House for Luke's Birthday, lot's of games and good groceries on the BBQ. I wonder who will be there next year, maybe a celebrity or two ? Tune in this time next year to find out.....

..... Zane Tomlin's 25' Moomba .....
Zappa and Chelsea asked me to come out early Sunday morning and drive for them and Zappa's family. Man was it cold and windy. No matter, they all have wet suits and enjoyed being just about the only boat on the lake. I had to leave by like 10:45 to get home and pick up the family to head to Luke Brown's birthday party. Chelsea and Zappa still got a couple of shots to show everyone. Check out the action.

..... Old Coupland Inn & Dancehall .....
Nichole and I invited David and Karen to come into town this weekend and go dancing. We went to The Old Coupland Inn and Dancehall to see Jason Boland and the Stragglers. Some local band from Taylor, Kenny Orts and The Fender Benders, opened for them and they were incredible. They had two guitar players that alternated leads, lot's of chicken pickin and bending. The player on the left side of the stage played B and G bender while utilizing high and low drop tuning's along with playing the fiddle and harmonica at times. The player on the right used the old fashioned nut bender with drop tunings. Like I said, they were awesome, we will definitely go to see them again. Lots of traditional country music good for buckle polishing, 10-4 ! Jason Boland was okay.(http://www.couplanddancehall.com)

..... Welcoming the Spring on the "Moomba XLV" .....
Zappa, Chelsea and some of their friends invited us to ride with them this afternoon on Lake Austin. There was no way we were gonna turn them down, bring on the Summer, every last 115 degrees of it, we're ready. We had a great time hanging out watching everyone ride, Zappa and Brandon have somewhat of a contest going, to see who can land their first successful backroll. After what I saw today, it looks like Zappa's bringing home the gold. The XLV ran pretty solid, it's very similar to The Browns' Moomba, and when everyone's sitting where they should be it throws a monster. We look forward to more toeside-faceplants and SPF 50 with all our friends as the season is just kicking off and our orthopedic surgeons are releasing us to full extreme sports duty. We hope to see you there, until then, check out the pictures from today's events.

..... Luke Brown pays a visit .....
Luke Brown stopped by today to visit while Mrs. Brown went to a Dr's appointment. We had a great time. We ate some lunch, drank a couple cold ones, did some pickin' and grinnin' and topped it all off with a nap. We did "The Wheels On The Bus" like nobody's business. He said that he would come back next week and we could do it again, I can't wait... Click the link below to see him in action.

..... Heart Attacka' Zappa .....
Today Zappa, Chelsea, Nichole, Hannah, and myself found our way to Lake Austin in the midst of a fishing tournament if you can imagine that.(busy boat ramp) I thought local fisherman knew to go to Lake Travis ? We all had a good time. Above you see Zappa's attempt at a backroll. I think maybe P.B. should go to help with the critiquing because I couldn't give any advice. Chelsea tried out her new L.F. Vantage bindings and Nichole finally got her new Emily Coy wet. I drove and Hannah took pictures. We can't wait for summer and more good times....

..... The Freer Ranch .....
Karen and David were showing us where their new home will be, almost right in the middle of The Freer Ranch. The pictures that you see will be the view from the back porch. I expect many parties to be held here. You better bring your pick-up though, because they don't like solicitor's and your grandma's Oldsmobile can't make the hike. I vote for a firepit on the back porch, makes for a good and warm deer stand.

..... New Years Party @ The Brown's .....
Luke Brown is diggin' this New Years Party. There were lot's of friends we haven't seen in a while at The Brown's last night, we all had a spectacular time playing with Luke, he's a hit at all the parties. Max, Paul, Nichole and myself jammed a little RockBand, while Kenny and Matt played Eight Ball. Finally we played Texas Hold Em' for a nite-cap, Cindy Brown won the $50 pot. Luke say's that we should do this more often, I couldn't agree more. Take a look at all the happening's inside, prepare yourself for lot's of smiling and laughing..... Happy New Year!

..... Hannah's Christmas .....
Hannah finally came home from Florida to have Christmas with The Jones/Freer part of the family. She made out like a bandit and would you believe that most of her gifts were pink ? She got a lot of clothes, which she needed because she's growing like a weed. It seems like she wears something twice, then outgrows it. She actually got more stuff than I can remember, so click the link below and see all the goods.

We went to Johnson City to spend Christmas with The Freer's, Demeester's, one Wingo, Bigg's and PaPaw. Even Curtis, his family, and Boxer Hooch made it this year. Endless amounts of good food and RockBand. We get Hannah Saturday, will open gifts with dad and Sage, then back to Gram's on Monday, pictures will follow. I'm just gonna let the pictures do the talking on this one, so have a looksy and enjoy.

We met up with The Brown Family for supper Tuesday night to exchange gifts and visit before the holidays get too hectic. Nichole and I picked up Luke Brown his very own pair of cowboy boots. Do you see the excitement in his eyes ? The Brown's got us a basket of Shiner and Cashews, do those guy's know what we like or what ? Take a look inside and see the whole visit...

..... My Christmas Gift from Nichole and Hannah .....
Nichole asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I truly didn't have an answer for her. I couldn't think of anything, because I have all I need or want, other than summer to never end and the sharp, constant pain in my right shoulder to go away without the help of an orthopedic surgeon. So, shooting for the moon I said a Telecaster, thinking that I'd have better luck asking for another wakeboard. Then came the E-bay shopping and 8 days later the Fed-Ex guy delivers not only a Telecaster, but a 1952 Re-Issue Cobalt Blue, Relic'd (new, but made to look old school) Telecaster in an SKB case. Nichole has really raised the bar for gifts this year, so wish me luck, and if I don't rectify employment soon I can always open the case on a street corner somewhere and play for donations......Maybe P.B. could sing... lol...

..... Setting up the Christmas Tree .....
Nichole, Hannah and Elvis spent most of the evening putting up the Christmas tree. I think Elvis just got in the way. Now some unlucky person gets to wrap all the gifts to put under said tree, I wonder who will get that vote, definitely not myself since I use too much tape and can't cut a straight line, therefor using entirely too much paper. I learned that trick a long time ago... Nichole keeps threatening to go get lights to hang along the eve's, but ultimately decided against it.

..... Chuy's Parade and Toy Drive .....
We went downtown to donate toys for the Chuy's toy drive and froze our you know what's off, dang it was cold. I'm gonna get with P.B. and see if we can find something to enter in the parade next year. It was cool Hannah and Caden were able to donate toys for a good cause. Melanie was there doing her part as an employee/volunteer. After that we went to Kerbey Lane Cafe and drank like 3 gallons of coffee, human antifreeze.

We got home just in time to watch the Brock Lesnar/Randy Couture fight, another surprise victory for Lesnar.

..... Lake Austin in The Moomba .....
PB and I took an evening set in The Moomba today, loaded it down with ballast to sit deep in the water, and payaa big wake... PB hit his biggest double-up yet, in fact he was so high that I literally lost him in the mirror. I turned around in the seat to see him doing an unintentional raley. He landed it and eventually crashed, when I turned around to pick him up I asked him if he thought PB stood for Parks Bonifay instead of Paul Brown ????? The water was warm, but the cool air made for a long, cold and wet trip back to the boat ramp from the clock tower... Good Times... We took most pictures with The Brown's high speed camera, so to see more pictures look at pablosweb/photo's.

..... Paul Brown and a Double-Up .....
As if one wake wasn't enough, Paul Brown has to hit two at a time, because he can... bastard... Aaahhh the cool waters of Lake Austin were nice and peaceful for the most part today, it's been sixteen days since our last ride (home renovation and a honey-do list a mile long)I think that we all have been deprived of the water lately, but today the batteries were recharged. Paul Brown, Zappa and myself met at the 360 bridge today for some rowdy time on the water. Do you see how high he's getting on those double-ups ? If that ain't rowdy for you, then you should try it, and hope your knees don't fail when you land. PB says he'll drag out The Moomba on Thursday, maybe Mrs Brown will ride along and bring her fancy high speed camera so that we can take some quality pics, otherwise LB is going to have to learn completely hands-on, no pics = no reference.lol... Great day for riding today, little wind and not too much traffic, hope that Thursday is a repeat, stay tuned for updates, and you've got to see all the pics that Zappa took from today, you know you want to, just click the link below and get to it....

..... Dave Connolly wins Virginia Nationals .....
Dave Connolly started five races late in the season, that's like an automatic 200 points in the hole. Now, not only is he in the countdown to the championship, he's #3 in points. He drives this Charter Communications car which is owned by Victor Cagnazzi, who also employs a guy from Tyler Texas, Todd Bevis, who has built a Mustang for me. You may remember this guy "Bevis Built Race Cars". He was on the loop in Tyler next to Harwood Industries. Now they all live in North Carolina, not bad for a good ol'boy from the Piney Woods with some welding skills.

..... Lake Austin with the Brown's .....
Paul, Cindy and Luke Brown met us at the boat ramp this evening for an afternoon stroll on Lake Austin. That Luke Brown likes riding in the boat, I'd go so far as to say that he was born to be on the water, I see a 118"cm LF Board in his not too distant future. Mr. Brown dialed in a monster double up, he said that he was so high in the air that he didn't know what to do other than hold on tight and prepare for his landing. He also stuck some back-rolls, 180's and 360's. Other than the double-up's and dock-starts he was being a little conservative, I kept playing "Fat bottom girls" to encourage a Tantrum or Raley to no avail. I just did my usual crashing and face planting, can't ever get too many of those.(whatever) The water was nice and smooth other than the jerk-offs on the jet-skis, so you blow by them trying to buck em' off the ski and they just jump your wake, which makes me twice as mad as before, bastard's.... Good Times....

..... The Youngblood's came into town this weekend, so we decided to show them what they're missing here in Austin...
Brian, Mandy, Shelby and Trista Youngblood came into town this weekend from Dallas. We decided to invite them for an afternoon set on Lake Austin thinking that since Texas was playing Arkansas and The ACL Fest was going on that we would have the lake all to ourselves.... Wrong, damn Tivo ! We had a good time regardless of how rough the water was, in fact it was so bad that The Perd is looking better and better to me. Brian got to ride the wake-skate, which he had never done before and Mandy chickened out of her set, she'll regret it this winter though when it's so cold outside that you don't want to leave the house. We'll for sure be on The Perd then, no rest for the weary, heck we might be on it sooner than that, here lately it seems like it's worth the extra drive... Anyway, we were glad to see some old friends and invite them to come back soon to visit again. Bring your health insurance card because you may need it while in the calm water, go big or make ballast, that's my philosophy....

..... Greg Stanfield clinches first Pro Stock victory .....
Greg Stanfield raced Competition Eliminator for years, and did a fine job of holding his own and winning frequently. About three years ago he decided to step up to Pro-Stock, which is considered to be the most competetive class in the pro category. To make a long story short, it took 135 rounds for him to win his first Wally in Pro-Stock. It was an emotional win for Greg as he has now won in every class of competition leading up to Pro-Stock in the LODRS and the Powerade Tour.

..... Doug's 35th. Birthday .....
Today was my 35th. birthday, seems like it was just yesterday and I was 34. The Freer's and Demeester's came in from Johnson City to help us celebrate. Eric, one of my friends from Rodman also came and brought one of his dog's for Elvis to play with. Barbecue and football was the theme for the day and there was no shortage of either, damn Colts... Nichole expanded my wood-working tools by getting me a router, bit set and tool box liners, I sense a bit of passive-aggressiveness in her choice, hmmmm.....Hannah and Caden chased each other around the house and neighborhood all day, so I'm sure they both slept well tonight as did Elvis from playing with Max in the backyard. Our movie star neighbor Vivian Johnson came over for some of Nichole's "Better Than Sex" cake, she said that she would be the judge of that, it's my favorite, but it's nowhere near being better than sex, although there is enough sugar in it to get your heart rate up for later..lol.. Good times. After everyone left and the house was back to it's original state, we sat down to watch the O'Reilly Fall Nationals and had the pleasure of watching Greg Stanfield, an old acquaintance of mine from Pro-Stock Racing put down Jeg Coughlin in Pro-Stock. The biggest upset of the year when J.R. Todd blew by Tony Schumacher in the T/F/D Final Round. John Force went two rounds, a year to the date that he almost lost his life on this very track, proving that he truly is a living legacy and with four races left in the countdown, The Championship is still up for grabs in Funny Car.

..... Mr. Brown and Mr. Brown getting ready to throw it down, Luke likes to ride in the boat....
We took Mr. Brown and Mr. Brown out in the X-7 for her maiden voyage since I almost sank the thing about a month ago. Didn't sink, but wouldn't start either, the kill switch was the problem, can you believe that ? Not a problem anymore though, we don't need no stinking kill switch. We ended up going to the Perd and not taking any pictures, only video from Mrs. Brown's video camera, thanks Cindy. Then Paul Brown works his magic, the end result is a crisp, clean music video of back breaking crashes... Get to it !

........................Nuff' Said.....................
Well, it started out as a promising evening on Lake Austin with Zappa, Chelsea and Sage, I take that back, Zappa was having a hard time sticking anything. Anyway, then the X-7 almost sank, by no stretch of the imagination, water was above the rubrail and halfway up the engine compartment. It took three 1200 gpm. pumps an hour to pump all the water out. Then we had to get towed to the boat ramp by "the man" in the black and white boat. I'm glad today's over. The last time I talked to Josh in the service dept. @ TSR Mastercraft, he said there was a two week wait to get your boat in.... Looks like the Jones' are going to be boat ho's for a week or two or three....

...... This just never get's old ......
This just never get's old, I could watch Paul Brown do this all day long. Paul, Zappa and myself met up at the 360 bridge this evening for an afternoon set. Everybody's got plans for the weekend and none of them involve the lake or the boat, so we had to get our fix before it was too late. We had a blast, went almost all the way to Mansfield Dam where the water is the coldest, but it's the best water Lake Austin has to offer. We came across some guys riding a rail, pulled behind a PWC, looked like a lot of fun. Paul said that he'd be doin' that when he's 80, for some reason I half-ass believe him. Check it out, click the link below to get the scoop....

..... Easin' the soul back in, Lake Austin Style ......
This is just what we need after a long week @ work, the cool waters of Lake Austin. There's nothing better, bottle up all your frustrations, jump off the platform, get to the end of the rope, and let it fly... It's a recipe for instant relaxation, after a couple of sets pull into a cove listen to some good music, hang out with friends and before you know it life as you know it is almost tolerable again... Here's to ya, we'll see you where the water's calm and the music's loud...

..... Good Times .....
We went to Lake Austin this morning to enjoy the cool water and took Elvis with us. Would you believe that we had a good time ? Seriously.... That crazy Elvis was riding on the swim platform while Hannah was riding, he think's he's a Heeler or something. It was only us three, so we didn't get too many action shots, but here's what we got, enjoy.

..... Hannah doing her thing .....
Hannah is getting up all by herself now, the thing is, that she's laughing the whole time and even she doesn't know why. She told me, "I was riding with one hand to fix my shorts, just like you daddy, Booyah !" Almost sounded like something Paul Brown would say. Kid's are so easily influenced. Everyone had a good ride today, Chelsea might need some grill work done next week, but it's cool, she didn't bleed in the boat. Nichole has been working on her Butterslides, Zappa likes the fat seat, he say's that it's a totally different wake, he's clearing wake to wake by like five feet now. I'm still waiting for my Covin to arrive, I borrowed Paul's LF board this weekend, but didn't like the way that it rode, so I drove most of the day, and like a big dummy, I left ol' faithful @ home hanging on the wall :-( There's always Wednesday, that's when the black board should arrive. Enjoy the photo's.

..... Luke Brown, look at the head-start he's getting on all of us .....
Paul Brown, L.B., Hannah, Nic and myself had to go to the lake Wednesday night to ease the soul back in. Luke was going to ride, but forgot his board in the rush to get to the boat dock, so he just watched his pop. We finally put the fat seat in the rear of the boat to make big wake, it has three different compartments, but we only filled one. Big difference, Paul says that one evening when it's just the two, or three of us, we'll fill all three and he'll do back rolls behind the X-7, looking forward to it Mr. Brown. Oh yeah, next time don't forget to bring Luke's board, ye' selfish bastard ! He actually slept the whole time, riding in the boat is therapudic you know.

..... Nichole cuttin' up. This is how we roll, at least three day's a week ..... Got fuel ?
Nichole like's the more intricate, technical tricks. I like to go big, which is why after riding Big Poppa, (Adkisson Pro Transcend with Parks bindings) on Friday, I seemed to have lost a bit of memory of what all happened that morning. Nichole said that I even lost my sense of direction. Hmmmmm. Kinda funny and scary at the same time. My wife and my doctor say that it's normal with head trauma, Paul Brown agrees, and say's that it happens to rider's all the time. None-the-less my motto is still,"Co-pay's are cheap and glory lasts forever.(edit as of Friday)your memory will eventually come back, otherwise it wasn't worth remembering."Spoken like a true Lake Austin Austinite.....We'll see you where the water is calm and the music is loud.....
