This just arrived yesterday from Houston. It's a 2007 Hardtail Robert Cray Fender Stratocaster. It will soon become my favorite Stevie Ray Vaughan replica, The Charley. Charley Wirz was SRV's guitar tech until he passed away in 1984. This was the last guitar that Charley's Guitar Shop in Oak Cliff ever built for him, from 1984-1990 Rene Martinez, formerly an employee @ Charley's, was his guitar tech. Rene now works for John Mayer. Anyway, a trio of Lipstick tubes, some wiring and Mother of Pearl Blue paint and things will start taking shape. I stole this whole rig right here, $108.00 for the body off E-bay, and $115.00 for the Vintage 62 WD neck from Ed Roman himself in Las Vegas.

I bought this from a guy in Rowlett for $70.00. It had a cheap Squier neck on it, ratty pick-ups and broken guard on it. I sold the neck to some poor soul in WI, ordered a heel adjust Maple 10 degree, 1"5/8 WD from Ed. I wet sanded the body to give it this chalkboard, black velvet look. I agree with Paul Brown on the slick body, but I think it's time to transform this one into SRV's Lenny. Some stain, set of Texas Specials and a set of SRV stickers will fit nice on this Blackie wanna be.

This was the first guitar that I have ever done any customizing to. Nichole bought this for me as a Christmas gift. Mods include:replaced Maple for a Rosewood, compound radius 12 degree Allparts neck/ Kluson Vintage Tuners/ Vintage compensated 3 saddle ashtray bridge with Lindy Fralin 10K bridge,6.5K neck pick-ups/ 500K alpha pots/ MOD 3-way switch. To date that's it, but possibly some finish work in the future.
